The Galena Center for the Arts will host a presentation by H. Scott Wolfe, Historical Librarian of the Galena Public Library District.
Wolfe has worked for years to record and commemorate the rich history of African American residents, entrepreneurs, and church communities in Galena. He will give an overall survey of the Black experience in Galena during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, giving attendees a deeper understanding of the significant, yet often overlooked, role African Americans played in shaping the town’s history and development.
This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.
