Galena Center for the Arts announces a new monthly concert series devoted to music from off the beaten path. Sounds From the Cellar will provide local youth an opportunity to not only attend, but also perform and produce shows that explore a wide variety of genres and styles.
With a musical focus on indie, punk, metal, hip hop and the avant-garde, Sounds From the Cellar will highlight artists breaking the mold and charting their own course. The program’s mission is to expose all-ages to an eclectic mix of music, and encourage youth participation and involvement in the creative arts.
In addition to established performers, the monthly concert series will highlight local and regional acts comprised largely of high-school and college-aged artists.
Sounds From the Cellar kicks off on Friday, August 12, with two musicians from Galena High School. Hayes Noble will headline the concert with his 90s Indie Rock band, and singer-songwriter Liliana Asta will open the show with an acoustic folk-pop set.
Doors open at 7:00pm with music beginning at 7:30pm. Admission is $5 at the door.
